Università degli Studi di Padova

The University of Padova started its multidisciplinary development in 1222, it is autonomous since 1995. Latest statistics indicate more than 61500 students and about 5000 personnel units.

At 2009, the Department of Biology has 98 professors and researchers, and 47 technical or administrative employees. Currently, it manages public and private research budget for about 13.5 million euro, with good quality rank also at national level.

Local research facilities and services allow, among others, biochemistry and microbiology work, advanced microscopy, gene expression analysis by qPCR, DNA microarrays and sequencing. The related marine station at Chioggia (Ve) is equipped for research work.
